Hatha Yoga consists of asanas (postures), pranayama (proper breathing), relaxation and meditation.  The goal of Hatha Yoga is to achieve a balance between mind and body.

During all classes students will be encouraged to be mindful of their breath.  Control and focus on the breath allows one to focus inward. Holding yoga postures while focusing on the breath is very meditative and promotes a calm, relaxed and focused state. 


Class Descriptions:

Rise and Shine:  This is a one hour morning class. It is very gentle and consists of pranayama, basic stretches, a few rounds of the sun salutation, a couple of asanas and a long final relaxation. A great way to start the day.

Beginner’s Hatha:  This class is ideal for beginners or individuals returning to yoga.  It is slow-paced and consists of pranayama (proper breathing), basic stretching, standing postures, an introduction to the sun salutation, forward and backward bends, twists and lots of relaxation.

Gentle Hatha 1:  The format of this class is similar to the beginner's class. A few more postures and variations will be introduced and some of the postures will be held longer.

Gentle Hatha 2: The format of this class is similar to the beginner's class. In this class the student will have an opportunity to practice advanced postures such as the shoulderstand and plough if they wish. However, there are modifications for all of the advanced postures, so a beginner could attend this class as well.

Modifications are available in all classes.

Please note: No advance registration. The classes are drop-in and work on a first come, first served basis. Classes are small. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early. The studio will open 30 minutes before classes begin.

Yoga should be accesible to everyone. If you are having financial challenges, please inform the studio so we can work something out.
